nfs shift 2 unleashed pc review by HYBs
A week after I bought this game through Origin for twenty dollars it went on sale for about five....smeh!?!
Copyright date shows a 2011 release...I'm sure I 'hemmed and hawed about reasons not to buy it then.
Regardless..I am thankful to Slightly Mad Studios for producing a driving game that may have some mileage in my 'LIMITED' Library.
Why? First, the graphics engine is good - compared to Hot Pursuit it doesn't get in the way (as much) of the main reason the game was made: to be enjoyed, exlpored...modded?
Yes. Now, modding in OUR context means more than what 'they' say but essentially I found out that there were more than a few cars available to be added on.
Particularly a large Ferarri Pack featuring F430 variants and a couple 599s. Some of the addons are unstable but the game will crash on my main system even on basic install for reasons I am not aware of as yet. But I have managed to reach level 17 in a week and that's almost all the way to the top.
Secondly, there may not be any online games going on here i don't know yet but for a change the singleplayer experience surpasses quite alot of gaming experiences I have enjoyed as far back as ten years ago. Good Thing.
Thirdly, I will mention that certain physics changes and other modifications are out there which may improve the sluggish stearing which is not as limited as Hot Pursuit but it is noticeable.
I have to also say that in addition to the well designed damage modelling on the base cars ( I didnt say superb ) the inventory has some beautiful renditions of Nissans, BMWs and ofcourse; Lamborghinis.
Classes are stupidly arranged and I hear that there may be some mods for that out there.
Finally, a DRIFT event section and some good sliding in other events makes for a good session of road warrior =DEO= style.
