Tomorrow is patch day and that means more cars will become available for in-game cash. It also means that some cars are going to be retired too. After tomorrow’s patch you’ll be able to pick up these cars for in-game cash:

Lamborghini Gallardo LP560 Spyder - The Gallardo LP 560-4 Spyder is a significant refresh of the Gallardo series. This convertible is powered by a 5.2 L V10 engine that produces 560 horsepower! For a while now we’ve been hinting that the development team has been working on a new feature. Today we are very excited to announce that Achievements are coming to Need for Speed World!

In the coming days we will be posting more details about the new Achievements system and today we’re starting it off with an overview of what Achievements are.

Achievements
Achievements are rewards for completing specific milestones in Need for Speed World. Whether you like to Compete, Customize or Collect, there are Achievements waiting to be won for every player; new or veteran. Many things that you can do in the game will count towards earning achievements!

In total there are four different categories of achievements:

Competition Achievements
These achievements are earned by participating and playing in events. Race, outrun, hunt, escape…do it all and you’ll be on your way to winning a wide variety of achievements.

Collection Achievements
The more cars you collect, the more achievements you’ll earn!

Customization Achievements
Customize your ride! When you customize your cars’ look and performance you’ll be working towards unlocking more achievements!

Driver Achievements
Earn these achievements by leveling up your driver, earning cash and hitting various game milestones

Every achievement has up to 5 ranks to earn, each more difficult to achieve than the last. The first rank should be relatively easy to earn whereas the final rank will test your skill and endurance for they are the most difficult to win. However, hard work usually reaps great rewards, which we’ll talk about in a few days!

Driver Score
With every achievement that you unlock, you’ll earn Driver Points that count towards your overall Driver Score. The more achievements you win the higher your Driver Score will be! Essentially, the Driver Score is a representation of the type of player you are in Need for Speed World. If you meet a player with a high Driver Score, he or she is probably a seasoned Need for Speed World veteran!

Your Driver Score can be seen in virtually every menu in the game when you’re interacting with other Need for Speed World players, whether it’s the Event Lobby, Post race or comparing drivers.

These are the basic fundamentals of the new Achievements system coming to Need for Speed World, and there is a lot more to cover in the coming days. Check back tomorrow as we discuss how you can view and interact with the Achievements in the game.

Introducing Achievements Part II – Completing & Viewing Your Achievements

Now that the community knows that Achievements are coming to Need for Speed World it’s time to dive into how you’re going to be interacting with this new feature in the game!

Once Achievements are implemented in Need for Speed World one of the first changes you’ll notice is the new button on the in-game menu that will open the Achievements Log. The Achievements Log is where you’ll be able to view every achievement, see your progress towards completing them and redeem their rewards.

Here is a look at the new Achievements Log:

1. Driver Profile – Displays the players’ Driver Name, Driver Level, Profile Badge and their Driver Score. On the top in-game menu it also displays your Achievement Badges.

2. Achievement Information – Displays the Achievement name, Badge and total amount of Driver Score that has been and can be earned by completing the Achievement Ranks. Once the player has completed all ranks for a specific achievement they will have earned all its Driver Points. Furthermore, for every rank completed, a star is added to its Achievement Badge.

3. Achievement Rank – Displays the different Ranks that can be earned within the Achievement. Select any rank to see what you have to do to complete it, as well as its reward. Remember, the greater the rank the greater the reward!

4. Achievement Reward – For every Achievement Rank there is a reward! The icon on the rank shows the type of reward for completing it. When players complete a rank it will turn green. If you see a ‘gift’ icon you have a reward waiting!

5. Achievement Reward Info – Displays the reward for the Achievement Rank. By default it will display the rank that the player is currently working towards unlocking, otherwise it will display the ranks with pending rewards. Players are able to select any Achievement rank to see their rewards. If the player has completed a rank and has a pending reward they can claim that reward by pressing, ironically enough, the ‘Claim Reward” button.

6. Achievement Progress – Displays a description of the Achievement, the player’s progress towards unlocking its next rank and the Driver Points that the player will receive for unlocking said rank. Once a rank is complete, the date of completion is also shown here.

7. Achievement Filter – This allows players to filter the Achievements displayed in the gadget. The filter options are:

- All: Displays all Achievements in NFS World (default filter)
- Pending Rewards: Only display Achievements with rewards that have not been claimed.
- Completed: Only displays Achievements that have at least one rank completed.
- In Progress: Only displays Achievements that the player is progressing towards completing.

8. Achievement Badges – When players complete Achievement Ranks they unlock the Badge associated with it. They can then choose up to four badges to appear in their Driver Profile by dragging them into these slots. There is a lot to the Badges and showing off your Achievements that we’ll cover at a later date.

The new Achievements Log is the primary method of interacting with your Achievements but there are other ways to view them and show them off! Probably one of the most personally rewarding feelings, other than claiming first place in a race, is when your time and effort finally pays off and you achieve a milestone. With Achievements we make sure that every milestone is celebrated by presenting the Achievement notification whenever an Achievement is completed.

The Achievement notification will show you the Achievement you unlocked, its badge and how much driver score you earned from the Achievement.

Introducing Achievements Part III – Showing Off Your Achievements!

So far we’ve already covered the basics about the new Need for Speed World Achievements System and how players are going to view them; today we’re going to be discussing how players will show off their Achievements to all their friends, opponents and other players!

Yesterday we briefly touch on Achievement Badges – when players complete Achievement Ranks they unlock the Badge associated with it. These badges are your primary method of showing off the type of driver you are and what achievements you’ve unlocked. In each player’s driver profile there are four slots that players can assign their Achievement badges to.

To assign a badge players simply need to open the Achievement Log and drag & drop it into a slot of their choice. Once the badges have been assigned to the slots they will appear in the Driver Profile, Event Lobby and Compare Driver screens as well as the HUD in freeroam. Essentially anywhere that you can view other driver’s information will also display the Achievement Badges.

We said before that the badges show off the type of driver you are and what achievements you’ve completed but that’s not the only thing they represent. The color of the badge’s border also represents how rare of an achievement it is. If the border around the achievement is black that means that the achievement isn’t very rare and a lot of players have completed that achievement.

However, if the border is gold that means that less than 5% of all active Need for Speed World players have completed that achievement rank and you are among the elite!

Tomorrow we’re going to dive into some details about how Achievements will affect the Community SpeedAPI and therefore some of our community sites like NFSUnlimited, NFS-S and WorldGarage so be sure to come back tomorrow

In today’s Achievement Introduction we’re going to be discussing how Achievements will affect the Community Speed API. But before you read on, make sure that you take some time to read through all the information we’ve already posted about this new feature. So far we’ve detailed What Achievements Are, Completing & Viewing Your Achievements and Showing Off Your Achievements.

At this point, some of you may be wondering what exactly the Community Speed API is. To summarize, the SpeedAPI is essentially a custom leaderboard that you create. We have given the community access to the Need for Speed World game data; this will allow you to not only create your own leaderboards but will also allow you to create logic on top of the data to whatever competition you want. Using the SpeedAPI you can create leagues, tournaments, straight-up Hot Lap battles…anything you want. Once you have your competition logic in place, you can than open up that competition to anyone whether it is just your friends or enemies. It’s all up to you!

Specifically, the SpeedAPI is a public, RESTful web service that provides access to Need for Speed World game data:

- Currently the response formats XML and JSON are supported.
- All Speed API calls are stateless.
- Any required state management will need to be handled by the caller.
- Versioning of the API will be via the URI. By invoking the appropriate URI, the corresponding version of the API will be invoked.

In terms of how the SpeedAPI is going to be affected, the changes are actually going to be quite minimal. We will be removing the ‘Get Stats (Indirect)’ call. This does mean that some stats will no longer be available to the community but we will cover player stats and migrating them for Achievements at a later date.

Tomorrow we’ll be discussing one of the two very hot topics within the community…Achievement Rewards!

So far we’ve covered What Achievements Are, Completing & Viewing Your Achievements, Showing Off Your Achievements and How Achievement Will Affect the Community Speed API.

First things first; every Achievement Rank you complete has an award associated with it. This means that every time you complete a Rank you’ll get a reward. Once we post the full list of achievements (soon) the community will see just how many rewards are up for grabs!

The rewards range from Aftermarket Parts, Skill Mods, In-Game Cash to Performance Parts and even Cars and Card Packs! The rewards that players receive for completing an Achievement Rank will be based on that ranks difficulty. For example, the reward for the first rank you complete for a particular achievement may be some powerups or in-game cash but as you complete more ranks for the achievement the rewards will get much sweeter!

You may have noticed that we’ve used a car photo for every one of our “Introduction to Achievements” blogs so far; these are all cars (with their own Car Slot) that you can win by completing achievements! In total there are six cars to be won from completing Achievements, they are:

- Nissan Fairlady 240 ZG
- Ford Focus RS
- BMW M3 E92
- Lamborghini Gallardo VB
- Koenigsegg CCX

Yes, we know that this list only has five cars. There is one more car that has never been released in Need for Speed World that can only be won by completing achievements. We guarantee that every single person who plays NFS World has been waiting for this car and absolutely can’t wait to get their hands on it but we’re not going to tell you what it is yet….

New Features:
- New Achievements system: Players can now obtain Achievements after completing specific milestones within Need for Speed World
- Achievements badge set now appears in the pre-race, post-race and compare drivers screens – allowing players to show off specific Achievements they have completed
- A new Achievements Log helps players track achievement progress, customize their Achievement badge set, and claim rewards
- New Driver Score measures the number of Achievements each driver has obtained
- The all new Bugatti Veyron EB 16.4 has been added to the game and is available exclusively as an Achievement reward
- 5 new “Achievement Edition” cars have been added the game and are available exclusively through Achievement rewards: Nissan Fairlady 240ZG, Ford Focus RS, BMW M3 E92, Lamborghini Gallardo LP 550-2 Valentino Balboni, and Koenigsegg CCX

Bug Fixes/Changes:
- Improvements were made to the client’s stability
- Driver Profile screen was removed from the Safehouse
- Rankings have been removed from the News Feed
- Fixed an issue that caused the Powerup cross to display an incorrect event label

Special Note:
- Please note that the Need for Speed World Leaderboards will be reset during the patch. This means that all leaderboard data will be removed.
